What has being a mom taught you?
(Tears) Being a mom is the most emotional and hardest job to have and it is not for the faint of heart. There are days you just want to quit mommin and in the same breath you never want to be separated from your children for very long. With the recent news I have received on one of my own being diagnosed with ASD, I have learned more now that being a mom has made me stronger as a person, woman, wife and most of all a mother. Being a mother has taught me new things about myself that I never knew.
What is your funniest or most embarrassing mommy moment so far?
Mom brain! Not showing up to class on the day I am supposed to teach. I was thinking more about the pool party after stroller strides and getting ready for that, I completely forgot I was teaching. It was 9:45 and everyone was waiting. Thankfully I had two awesome instructors who were able to fill in till I got there. I also went to the completely wrong pool after class also. It was not a good day for me.
When was your first FIT4MOM class and what do you remember about it?
The big grand opening with our founding Mama Melissa Erdner in August 2016. I remember how big the class was and being so excited to see all the moms and strollers in the same boat as me. I had just moved to the area and was in search of finding my own friends while getting a workout in. I google searched "Fitness mom groups" and FIT4MOM popped right up. I think Melissa said I was the first to RSVP to her grand opening. Since that day, I have been hooked.
Tell us your story about how/why you became an instructor?
At the time Melissa had mentioned that she would soon be leaving Madison and would need someone to take over the business. We were all crushed with the thought of her leaving, but we knew we had to keep FIT4MOM going after she left. I decided to take on Instructing because I knew, at the very least, someone had to teach the classes. I was not sure I would be able to take over the business as a whole. I already had some fitness and instructing background. So i thought, "why not?" I took that leap of faith and have loved every second of it since.
What is the BEST thing about being an instructor?
The rush of helping moms feel empowered and energized at the end of every class. Also to see moms come back for more.
What is your WHY? Why do you keep doing what you do?
I'm not just an instructor. I am a coach, counselor, motivator, role model, and friend to each and every mom that comes to class. I love knowing I am filling another mom's cup with energy and happiness at the end of class. My favorite is the sweaty smiling faces.
What is your favorite class exercise?
I think the one I am most known for is the Lunge Jump.
What is a fun fact that many may not know about you?
I am a nester. I love to nest. I love cleaning and falling down these rabbit holes of reorganizing things.
Anything else you’d like Our Village to know?
If you are not sure if you want to join for whatever reason, just take that leap and come to one class. You will see we are your people and exactly what you need at your stage in motherhood. You have nothing to lose.
