Moms are athletes!
Learn more about SAQ drills and why moms can benefit from SAQ training.
Moms are athletes! We can certainly benefit from quicker reaction times and improved body control during any movement. You never know when you will need to sprint after your kids on the playground or dodge a rock on a trail while family hiking. Not only are the drills applicable and transferable, but they are also highly metabolic and fun! SAQ drills are beneficial for enhancing activities of daily living and are important to weave into a training program, like with a Strides 360 class.
While the terms speed, agility, and quickness are often used interchangeably, it is important to know the difference between these components.
Speed is defined as the ability to move the body in one direction, as fast as possible - such as a sprint.
Agility is the ability to quickly change directions while executing an exercise/movement - such as a pivot.
Quickness means that you can react, alter body positions, or change movement patterns without reducing intensity or force production - such as a running chase.
All of these drills can improve balance, coordination, and power. Also, many studies have shown that SAQ drills can improve cognitive function as well as physical fitness.
