Motivating Mom of the Month- Meet Sydney
This month we are excited to highlight Sydney, as our Motivating Mom of the Month. Her contagious energy is inspiring. Read on to get to know her a little more and hear why she is our first motivating mom of 2021.
"Sydney is such a joy to have in class! She shows up to class with a sense of humor and has everyone laughing at 5am (a hard accomplishment with a group of tired Mamas). Sydney has gone all-in and embraced all of our classes and this village. When I am attending class alongside her, she is the Mama I want to work out across from so she can give me an air high five, push me just a little harder, and make me smile." - Kelly
"I love hanging out with Sydney Whether that's at a workout or moms night out. She always shows up with a smile and a kind word for everyone she meets. I'm so happy to have her in our Village." - Rebecca
When was your first FIT4MOM class and what do you remember about it?
My first class was June 3, 2020 and I remember being nervous because I hadn't worked out in many months, and I had never done HIIT. I also remember being so proud that I finished and was stronger and had better endurance than I gave myself credit for! I was hooked!
What is your favourite class exercise?
My favorite exercise is plank jacks because I feel like a beast after finishing a round of them.
What is your current job? Or what did you do before staying at home (if you don’t currently work outside the home)?
I'm the Enrollment Leader for Paul Mitchell the School (Huntsville and Birmingham). I've been with the school for 4 years and transitioned to this work from home role in 2020. I love it!
What are 3 of your favourite things?
1. Candles
2. Cold Brew Coffee with Snickers Creamer (that is now impossible to find!)
3. Black Leggings
You are given 4 hours of FREE babysitting. What would you do?
Definitely something outside the house. Probably peruse Home Goods and see a movie.
What has being a mom taught you?
To give myself grace. I have to remind myself constantly that God chose me for my family and no one can do this job for them better than me. I definitely don’t do this perfectly!
What is your funniest or most embarrassing mommy moment so far?!
Probably when my daughter repeats things I say, like she’ll tell me “we don’t say that” if I say something she has been told not to say. Yeah, it’s humbling getting called out by a 2 year old. But at least she’s absorbing things we’re trying to teach her!
Any words of wisdom for other moms?
I would encourage other moms to be kind to yourself and to lean on other mamas. It's hard out here and it's great to know that there's someone in your corner who gets it and believes in you!
What is your favorite thing about FIT4MOM? What would you tell someone thinking about joining?
DO IT! I seriously watched Fit4Mom's instagram for at least a year before I decided to sign up for my first class, and I wish I had done it so much sooner. I was intimidated because I have never been athletic or into fitness (ask my elementary PE Coach), but now I do burpees, y'all. BURPEES. You have nothing to lose and you'll be so proud of yourself for trying something new!
You can regularly find Sydney at our Body Boost classes. Try a free class, workout alongside her, and let her be your cheerleader.
